These are gorgeous purple wool Saint Laurent pants! I don’t sell a whole lot of designer items but oh do I love finding them. These pants are really great, they are a high waisted Deep purple, wool, two pleats, two side pockets, they zip and button with a small purple button. They are beautifully cut and crafted. black pants! The materials tag is long gone but I believe they are wool, unlined but it’s a nice smooth wool. They are in very good vintage condition.
Yves Saint Laurent started his fashion career as a couture designer but in 1966 he became the first couturier to open a ready to wear boutique under his name. So named “Saint Laurent Rive Gauche” Rive Gauche means “left bank” as his boutique was located on the left bank of the river.
Yves Saint Laurent wanted to create clothes for everyone not just the uber rich. He is considered to be one of the foremost fashion designers of the twentieth century. YSL is the reason “ready to wear” became reputable. But, he also brought couture back from the ashes in the 1960’s. His fashion perspective was that women look elegant but be comfortable at the same time.
